Pablo Picasso Shape Face Collages
Students are required to study 6 artists each year, so we start off with Pablo Picasso. Students viewed a powerpoint on Picasso and his work, and during the powerpoint, students identified different geometric shapes found in Picasso's artwork, lines found in the artwork, and discussed the difference between realistic artwork and abstract artwork. After the powerpoint, students chose a piece of paper for their background and created a line pattern. Students went on to take different Primary colored papers and draw shapes for the face, eyes, nose, and mouth and cut them out. Students assembled the faces onto their patterned background paper and then draw details with Sharpie and construction paper crayons. Students were then able to add hair.
